Celebrating 300… With a Giveaway Not Naked Spartans

I still shake my head when I think about that movie… I went into it expecting history and instead got a man’s movie full of graphic fight scenes and bare skin.

Kristy reminded me of the fact that the Spring Quilting Gallery blog hop giveaway is on and it just happens to coincide with ticking over to 300 Google Followers! It’s such a thrill to know that people are out there reading my words and seeing my work. I also want to acknowledge the 400 odd of you who follow via email or RSS – you are just as important, thank you! It can be isolating living in Japan with no local quilt groups or the like, so it is my online community that IS my quilt group!
So in light of celebrating the wonderful world of online quilting, I would like to offer some sewing-themed goodies:

    So many favourites! I couldn’t get by without my trusty seam ripper but I do love my thread snips for quickly nipping off all those loose threads but I also love my old teaspoon which I use for helping to close all those safety pins when I’m basting my quilts!

    What a funny connection with the 300 followers 🙂 My favorite notion right now is probably the little red Wonder Clips by Clover. I use them for so many different things. Right now, they are helping me audition curtain lengths. Thanks for the incredible giveaway!!

    My favorite sewing notion is probably my old wrist pincushion. Can’t sew without it. I have had it since 7th grade home-ec back in the 1970’s.

    Such adorable fabrics – especially the hexie flower fabric and the notions fabric. My favorite notion is a thimble with a raised rim on the top. I never realized how important the rim is until I learned how to hand quilt recently and tried using a rimless thimble, which let the needle slip all over the place, since the little dimples are not deep enough. Hand quilting is so much easier now! Thanks for the chance to win!

    My favorite notion is a Fiskars razor point scissors. I would love to have them in every room of my house. Perhaps someday I will. They are SOOOOO sharp and awesome. They are small but not so tiny that I can’t find them. Just about school size if you remember kindergarten.

    I love the fabrics you chose for your giveaway, one of your fabrics looks like Yellow Page Adds and I was just writing today on Bonnie Hunter’s Blog how I’d love to have Yellow Page Fabrics, I think it’s meant to be 😉 My favorite tool is my Tucker Trimmer, it’s one of the most amazing rulers I have ever owned and definitely my favorite, Try It, You’ll Like It and no, I don’t own stock in it 😉

    Living in Greece, my husband loves that movie and I just wish my husband had a six pack like those boys, ha, jk, there are no Greeks that fit at least not anymore. Seam Ripper and Rotary Cutter are my favs and really I need to buy some more (only 1 of each).

    I love my lanyard with ting scissors attached, that I hang round my neck so i am not losing my scissors when I’m sewing – does that count as a sewing notion??? x

    What wonderful fabrics! My favorite notion while not really one is green frog painter’s tape. I use it to mark an accurate 1/4 inch seam on my antique machines, use it to hold down an Angler 2 template when I am doing HST.

    well okay one ruler I like is the ADD a 1/4″ ruler for foundation piecing, I love it!

    I like pincushions. I used to just use a box of pins and was always sticking myself with them. Then I discovered pincushions and I never looked back! Love the fabrics you are giving away!

    Does my sewing machine count? I don’t do anything without it! But if I were to choose something smaller it would have to be my seam rippers – plural because I have them in varying sizes and even have a lighted one that was a present (but that is the one I cannot find at the moment….)

    my favorite tools are my seam ripper… and my Martelli’s Rotary Cutter.. Love this tool, takes the stress out of cutting with a rotary cutter, my shoulder and back no longer hurts because I use this cutter.. best buy ever.

    My favorite sewing notion is the rotary cutter. If it wasn’t for that tool I would not be a quilter. In the 70’s before the cutter I tried making a quilt cutting out each piece with scissors. I gave up!

    Oooh! I love the fabrics! My favorite sewing tool/gadget (besides the rotary cutter, the best invention since indoor plumbing) is my stick. Kinda pointy on one end and really pointy on the other, my stick is what I need for sewing, ironing, placing, fixing, poking and reaching.

    What a great giveaway! My favorite notion is my small ruler, it’s 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ and perfect for cutting small pieces of fabric. I like it better than the rulers that are only an inch wide.

    My favorite notion doesn’t have a name it is by clover and it is similar to a bone folder. kind of s shaped with one end coming to a fine point and the other end thicker. I love it with my piecing – I use it on my 1/4″ seams instead of finger pressing. it gives a nice crisp fold. I don’t think I could do without it. it is a creamy white and about 4″ long… I also will give me a great line on my fabric instead of using a pencil…easy as pie when doing my HST.

    Favoured greatly is a little handstitched pincushion that is full of memories..and it also keeps my dear husband safe from any stray pins, (a big no-no in our home as my poor darling has yelped once too often from finding my pins in the past, oops!:)grace55(at)hushmail(dot)com
