This was supposed to be my impressively productive week. You know those weeks where you write a giant list of everything you need to get done and are super determined to get up early before the kids (which means before 6am here!) and keep Facebook closed and all that jazz? But of course, it’s always those weeks that life happens, right?!
When suddenly you have something on every day, including a surprise student free day tomorrow and thus having two kids at home. When suddenly your daughter decides to get some weird mild virus and sleeps terribly which means of course there’s no way you’re getting up before 6am. WhenΒ When time runs away, rulers slip, computers freeze, threads snap and tempers are frayed.
So grand plans of having two new paper piecing patterns to release tomorrow have been delayed, and the Easy As ABC QAL posts will hopefully be up by the end of the day, instead of the usual morning time slot. My biggest success all week (besides surviving) is finishing my sister-in-law’s Totoro baby quilt. It’s a little different from the original design, but I do have to say, battling through half-rectangle triangle mishaps and FMQ tension issues (and the aforementioned snapping threads) was so worth it. This weekend we will all be heading out to spend some quality family to reconnect after a crazy couple of months of daddy’s work trips and visitors, and it will include trying to find the perfect “Totoro forest” for a photo shoot!
Let’s end this post on a high note – my beautiful Izzy, all ready for her playgroup’s Halloween party today. Complete with her “Izzy pirate boots” (aka new winter boots), and homemade head scarf and pixie dust pouch – “But remember, pixie dust is only for emergencies!”

Wish we had quilting pixie dust! Sorry you’ve had an off week. Happens to the best of us. I tell myself I should just lower my expectations for each week so I can actually get it all done, but inevitably, my list gets longer, not shorter! Here’s to long list makers everywhere!
