Last weekend, I finally finished off my Modern HST Sampler quilt top!
I decided to do something different for the setting, to step out of my comfort zone and try alternate gridwork. To do so, I simply added a 2.5″ x 12.5″ strip to one side, and then a 2.5″ x 14.5″ to a neighbouring edge to create an L-shape. Then I carefully laid out the blocks to spread the colours, making sure that the L-borders were alternating the rotation of the blocks.
As I finished it off at a friends’ sewing day, I was able to rope a couple in to help me grab a couple of pictures (before the camera died!), buy some Tula Pink wideback from Clair’s Fabrics (our fabulous host), and then hand it straight on to Erin from Quilt By Starlight to quilt it (who’s been patiently waiting for me to get my butt into gear). Oh it’s so wonderful to have that done! I may even make the binding NOW before the quilt comes back… That’d be a first!

It looks lovely. That’s a creative setting. I’m still not sure what setting I will use. I probably won’t even worry about it until next fall. But I’m happy to have the blocks finished!

Haha! Love the honesty 😉
