It is with such excitement and much chuffed-ness (chuffed informal British adj. very pleased) that I would like to introduce you to my quilting book – Mini Masterpieces!
I like to think of Mini Masterpieces as Alyce Blyth in a book. It is me teaching a range of different quilting techniques through easy-to-achieve projects that are suitable for beginner and experienced quilters alike. It is me encouraging you to just try with no pressure to complete a full-sized quilt project. To just play with the sole aim of learning and playing and creating for the sake of creating.
Mini Masterpieces features 12 different quilting techniques, with a sampler block and a mini quilt for each technique. The book finishes with two different mini sampler quilt patterns for using your sampler blocks in a fun medallion setting.

The Journey to Mini Masterpieces
I will share a full blog post about the behind-the-scenes of getting to this point of releasing my book, but I did want to share a little now about it all, and particularly about Lucky Spool.
Publishing this book with Lucky Spool is a dream come true. I have long admired the books they release and the ethos behind their business model. Each step of the publishing process is freelanced out to small business owners, many of whom are like myself – running a business while also running a family! Like the illustrator, Kari, and the book designer, Kristy.
In fact, having the photography and book design by Page + Pixel is also a dream come true. I have had such a “design crush” on the work that Kristy and Nissa produce, and the day I saw the folder of photos they took… there was some ugly crying!
All of which to say that I’m so thrilled and proud of how beautiful my book is and I cannot wait to have a copy in my hands. But in the meantime, here’s one more stunning photograph from Mini Masterpieces, from which I would love to have that sofa in my house pretty please…

I also kinda feel like a shopping channel host… “But wait, there’s more!” Still to come:
- Behind the scenes blog posts
- The book hop
- A book launch party in Melbourne
- The Mini Masterpieces sew along in 2020 – oh yes, the annual Blossom Heart Quilts sew along continues next year, this time with a textbook 😉
- Plus a few other surprises!
And of course, there’s the official hashtag of #MiniMasterpiecesBook for Instagram, so be sure to tag it in your posts!
Finally, a massive thank you to everyone who has been so supportive, helpful, and cheering me on through this whole journey. I feel so blessed and grateful that I can pursue my passion of teaching and encouraging other quilters, and to use the gifts that God has given me to do so. I can’t believe I finally get to share about it publicly, and that it’s so close to being in my hands… and in YOUR hands!
