I have been using Aurifil thread for years; the quality of the thread had me hook, line, and sinker from that very first spool! And the range of colours and thread weights available have kept me hooked on tight. I’ve had the privilege of being an Aurifil Artisan for two years in a row, and this year, I’ve jumped ship to the designer side of things! Yes, that’s right, I am now an Aurifil designer.
Earlier this year, I pulled out my Aurifil thread stash and picked and mixed and selected and edited colours that best represented both my book, Mini Masterpieces, and myself – that means some beautiful, rich shades of colours!
I have curated a collection of twelve 50wt threads that both coordinate with the quilts in my book but that also form a great basic toolkit of threads to begin or compliment your thread stash, with two neutrals and a rainbow of 10 colours. And being 50wt, this means that they can be used for piecing, quilting, English paper piecing, and applique – 50wt is the most versatile, that’s for sure!
So what colours are there? The two neutrals are my most used threads. Natural White 2120 is my go-to for piecing and quilting white fabrics, and Light Sand 2000 is my all-time favourite colour. It’s the most beautiful golden, creamy colour that simply melts into all kinds of coloured fabrics.
There’s then a 10-piece rainbow of threads covering all the bases, starting with four warm colours – 2270 (red), 2220 (coral), 2235 (orange) and 2140 (yellow). They match the blocks in the Whirlpool sampler quilt perfectly! Which also happens to have been quilted with 2000.
And the other end of the spectrum features three greens – 1114 (light), 2865 (emerald), and 4093 (teal) – and then 1128 (light blue), 2740 (dark blue), and 1243 (purple). These all match the blocks in the Ripples sampler quilt which, yep, you guessed it, was quilted with 2021!
To find your local stockist, check out this page here that I will keep updated once the thread starts to pop up in stores.

Hi, Just received your last steller block (12) . Lovely, thank you. But in reviewing my downloads I find that I am missing block 2. Thought that I was missing block 5 but when I checked I found it in the block 2 download and no lock 2 there,.
So could you show me where block 2 is?
I enjoyed the BOM but haven’t started to make it as was waiting for the full pattern,
Thank you for the help.
