I am an avid fan of Jeni from In Color Order, and when she announced that she was going to run a HST BOM this year, I couldn’t wait to start my first BOM! I even had a fat quarter bundle of Summersault by Erin McNorris that I had won from Want It, Need It, Quilt! months and months ago that had been sitting around patiently waiting to be used. I even bought a few more half yards of the range to add to my colour options. Now, I’ll be honest. I wasn’t originally sold on some of the individual prints. Some I just loved, others… meh. But I was brave and dove head on in. And now that I’m 6 months and 5 blocks in (yes, I’m a month behind)? I just love the overall effect! As a wise friend told me – perhaps the definition of art is greater than the sum of it’s parts.
For the moment, I am sewing in at the dining table until we get a desk for my sewing room (slash the guest room slash the undercover clothes drying room). And everytime I walk into the living/dining room and see these on the wall I can’t help but smile. They’re so bright and cheery!
Now, I have a confession to make. When I was first making the January block, I forgot to trim the HSTs down to 3.5″. Meaning I had one block that was too big and I’m lazy and refuse to rip it all apart, trim and re-sew. So I added a border, and ta-da! A matching pillow! Well, one day. I’m thinking I may add a scrappy border from all of the fabrics used.
Clearly not pressed and squared. |
Now to just sew June’s HSTs together and I’ll be all caught up!
Iron-less-ly your’s,
Alyce xx

We haven’t got an iron yet! That’s my excuse for now anyway 😉
