Kristy at Quiet Play is quite the paper piecer-er. And doesn’t she know it?! Always showing off her skills… Ahem, no, not really. I am just in awe of her skills and was inspired by her beautiful sewing machine cover (in Good Fortune no less!) to dive head first into the world of foundation paper piecing. And by head first I mean hitting my head against my table in frustration as I reached for Jack (the seam Ripper) once again. But sleeping on it overnight and letting it stew away inside, it suddenly clicked in the morning and I got into the swing of things. Sure Jack visited a few more times, but for the most part I was doing alright.
And then I took this picture just before to upload and realised I’ve made yet another mistake and must summon Jack once more… That’s what you get for rushing to finish the section before going to get babies up from naptime.
This is a free paper piecing pattern by Charise Creates and is by no means for first-timers like me. But I’m just crazy like that. It doesn’t include a seam allowance, you will need to cut the pattern up to make it work, and I’ve adapted and improvised to match both my limited skills/mistakes and miscalculating the scrappage I had for the sewing machine part! But, I’m loving the challenge and the emerging product. We don’t have a printer at home yet, so I had to email this to my husband at work and he printed off a second copy for me, so I can give it a second go once I’ve had a practice round.

Hehe you make me laugh Alyce! I’m hardly skilled – just addicted to paper piecing 😉
You have done such a fab job so far on this! It really is a tough one – especially for your first real foray into paper piecing! Can’t wait to see how it looks when you’re done!

Passionate/skilled… same same 😉
Thanks, I am really enjoying it! I like a challenge, as long as it’s eventualy achievable!
