I totally count finishing feature blocks as a finish! They are finishes in themselves as theoretically they need little else to be a finished product. Heck, I could totally just frame my paper pieced helicopter! Actually that’s not so bad an idea… my kids would love it… And besides, you’ve finished a pattern. And as quilters, we need any little finish to keep us going when quilts take a lot longer to be finished! Ahem, so, enough with the justifying, on with the show…
I finished the library bookshelf! And have started the improvised process of turning it into a bag. This was machine pieced, which was sort of a trial to compare to my recent paper piecing habit. It was fun to work it all out, but after originally having that leaning book doing it’s leaning thing against “thin air” and having to rip it out and rejig it all… Well, I wouldn’t have had that problem with paper piecing! I think I’m going to have a try at designing my own patterns for future things like this!
And finally, I present my finished paper pieced sewing machine! I’ll add in a needle when I turn it into a sewing machine cover similar to like Kristy did. It was a challenge, I employed Jack the Ripper one too many times, I became adept at repairing the paper pattern (scrap paper and a bit of glue if you need to do the same) but thankfully the second half went much quicker and smoother now I knew what I was doing.ย
In conclusion? Paper piecing rocks.
Papered up,
Alyce xx

Gosh I’m glad I’m not the only one ripping out seams with paper piecing. I’ve tried a fox and a hedgehog this week and they’ve both had the ripper employed!!! Where did you get the machine pattern – it’s so cute!!! ? ๐ thanks for linking up. ๐
