Kristy at Quiet Play is the one who got me into paper piecing. She was the one who introduced me to the sewing machine paper piecing pattern that has since got me hooked into making gorgeous pieces of fabric art! Now, without a printer at home yet and having to rely on hubby’s work printer, I haven’t done much else yet as I don’t want to nag him too often! But you can be sure I’ve bookmarked a few patterns to slowly print off.
When Kristy shared her helicopter paper piecing, I jokingly made a comment that I’d be happy to be a pattern tester for her… Which she actually agreed to! So yesteday the pattern was printed and last night I sat down and got stuck in. A couple of hours and a cake break later, I was done!
It is actually sqaure, despite what it might seem like – it just still has half of the paper attached to keep it unsquashed by admiring kidlets! It was really easy! Kristy had already included seam allowances, it was already broken down into sections, and I’m weird in that I like working out the little pieces and angles.
Kristy already has a free block and tutorial available on her blog – the Red Herring. It makes a gorgeous quilt! Go check it out!
