My mother-in-law always sends such thoughtful gifts, and this year I think she topped herself with some unique fabric.
These stunning pieces of fabric art feature Australian fruits and flowers, and almost look 3D with it’s fancy printing. Now, I’m not a huge “Aussie fabric” fan. All that wattle and banksia and kangaroos and blah blah blah. But these? These are just beautiful! While one could very well use them as normal fabric in sewing, I’m mighty tempted to frame them. Or at least a couple of them, especially that top right one.
I’m also impatiently awaiting the arrival of Susan Briscoe’s Japanese Quilt Blocks book! My best friend gave us a 2000 yen gift voucher for Amazon Japan and this book + delivery came to 1999 yen. Perfect! It means I can get started on my Japanese sampler quilt… whenever it arrives!
I highly doubt I’ll be doing anything circular or with applique, but all those geometric blocks… swoon!

My goodness! That fabric really is something else – my favs are the ones on the left. I think framing is a good idea!

Don’t be afraid of blocks with curved pieces…they’re a lot of fun!

Wow the fabric looks more like postcards! =D

Yes I agree Cherie – like a photograph…she did well to find those. Now is the Japanese sampler block done similarly to Farmer’s wife and Dear Jane – lots of little blocks that make a huge quilt by the end?
