Tucked into the corner, with a $3.50 bookshelf on top, I feel like I finally have space! The table may not be deep, but that’s good to avoid clutter! And it’s long so it’s great for cutting fabric next to Ellie instead of wriggling around her.
It’s a loan folding table from my husband’s work, and that shelf underneath it plus the folding mechanism are a bit too low and I have to sit carefully around it! During the day, the lighting’s pretty good thanks to the window right behind it, but at night time I have my back to the light and I will need to get a lamp soon.
This little bookshelf was just $3.50 from a local “recyle shop” (thrift store/op shop) and is the perfect size for putting bits and pieces like that basket on the bottom shelf which stores all my thread, scissors and rotary cutters (away from curious little hands!). I also keep my scraps container there – once it gets full I sort it out into colour-specific containers in the big cupboard – and a few small WIPs and new squishy mail.
I’d love to get my scissors and rotary cutters out of the basket and into an upright container for easier access; some smaller plastic containers to put WIPs in (big enough for layer cakes at least) plus the aforementioned lamp! A holder for my rulers also wouldn’t go astray as the poor darlings keep tipping over! Plus there’s the squishy decorating to be done… I’m thinking mini bunting as a start!
PS – Last day to enter the Kokka fabric and store voucher giveaway!

What a great space! I would love something like that, so I could work while the kids play.

I think your space looks great. As a suggestion for your rulers, most have a hole in them, could you put a screw/hook or something into the side of your lovely shelving unit and hang them from the side of it instead of leaning them up against it? That might work as a temporary solution!

What a great space! I love how neat and “clean” it looks! I’ve been working on my own sewing room, trying to get it organized. I’d love for you to visit my site & read my blog post – Sewing Room Cleanup

A great looking space so far, just be glad it’s all tidy. Maybe some storage boxes under your table would help too =D
