I chain pieced a bunch of these polaroid blocks onto a WOF strip. And I had thought to myself as I was sewing this strip that the machine was sounding a little different. I get to the end of the strip only to discover that all but the first couple of inches were “sewn” without bobbin thread. Doh!!
Every time I do this, I have either just thought that my bobbin must be running low by now or that my machine was sounding a little different. Every time. And yet I still do it. I think I need to print this poster off and stick it behind my machine!!
How often do you make the same mistake?! I know I’m not the only one…

I know the feeling and it is worse when you are mindfully watching your presser foot and see that it is not sewing but you can’t see that it is not sewing. Makes me glad I am in the room alone. LOL

Yes I need that poster too!

Oh so frustrating!! I think that poster sounds like a very good idea!

It makes me feel better than this isn’t just a beginner mistake. I do it all the time! I’ll even be watching the foot, waiting for it to run out because I think it will happen ‘soon’, and still miss it for ages.

Oh yes a common occurrence with me. Worse when it happens when free motion quilting.

Hahaha! I do that ALL the time 😀 I think I need a copy of that poster too!
Catherine says
Oh definitely. Happiness is having your bobbin run out just *after* you reach the end of a long line of quilting!

That happens to me all the time too. Lea at http://podunkpretties.blogspot.com/ suggested that I tie the thread to the bobbin. I’ve only done it once so far, but it seemed to work well!

Oh gosh I tend to check every so often when the machine sounds funny. I have Polaroid blocks that look just like that!-well at that stage =D

I need that poster, too! The same thing happened to me yesterday…twice!
Beth says
I just did the same thing today!
Janice says
I do the same thing and fillng the bobbin is my most hated task. Bobbins need to hold more!
Heidi Grohs says
Boy, do I need that poster!!!!
Karen S says
Yep! No fun at all–but when I run out without knowing it “Keep Calm” would have very little effect on my mood–or my language:) Gotta ask–what is that white stick? Is it a new tool–or part of an all-the-bells-and-whistles machine?
Alyce says
It’s a Clover finger presser – great for pressing over small seams without needing to get up to the iron for every little seam!
