Oh my word, just 2 days left of the year! And now it’s time to check off my WIP list for the last 3 months…
- Finish my sister’s gender neutral cot quilt – Top is done! And the backing doesn’t need piecing, so I’m just awaiting the arrival of 600 curved basting pins so I can baste and quilt it. But of course it’s all a secret so that my sister is surprised when I give it to her! She does at least know the colours and wholeheartedly approves.
And as they haven’t found out what they’re having:
- My sister’s girly pram/stroller quilt – Design is designed and I’ve started cutting from my Art Gallery Fabric stash.
- My sister’s boy-ey pram/stroller quilt – Design designed and jelly roll chosen! I’m going to use the same design for both, just different colours. It’s not cheating, it’s efficient!
- Make some bibs – As of 50 days ago, I’d chosen a Clover & Violet pattern… it’s now printed off! And sitting there waiting… I figure I’ll use some scraps from the quilts, so that’s my excuse for not making any yet!
In Color Order HST BOM finished by SewBlossomHeart, on Flickr
- Keep up with my BOMs – I’ve finished all my HST BOM blocks, but I’m torn as to how to sash, so the top isn’t pieced like originally hoped. And I’m only 2.5 blocks behind on the Fat Quarter Shop’s Designer BOM…
- Finish my Sweet Treats Blog Hop project – TICK! My Blue Birds Fly mini is sitting pretty on my sewing room wall.
- Good Fortune quilt – The top is re-pieced! I added another row to make it long enough to snuggle under and still keep toes covered. And the back is pieced, having scraped through with the amount of ordered backing (ordered 3 yards, only got 2.5).
- Make Tula Pink’s LOVE pattern – mini style!
- Keep on top of my Wombat Stew paper piecing blocks and make my month’s wall hanging- the blocks the girls made are still just sitting there… Oops. I had hoped to have it done by Christmas, but I just haven’t had the time! And I was 2 weeks late with Kristy’s paper pieced pincushion block, but December was a month off as we made each other Secret Santa presents and I was well in time with that, although it still hasn’t arrived so I can’t show anything yet!
- Finish A Very Merry HST BOF – I just realised I never showed the finished top! Oh my goodness, bad blogger! Note to self, do a final TGIFF post…
Sew Seasonal Advent Calendar by SewBlossomHeart, on Flickr
- Write up new pattern design and make – That’d be Ornamental! And apart from the Ornamental wall hanging, I also combined the Ornamental pattern with Kristy’s Christmas paper pieced blocks to make an Advent calendar.
I finished my original list with:
- And many mini projects that haven’t come to mind yet but no doubt will…
And indeed there have been many a new starts and finishes since then! My scrappy Polaroid log cabin blocks and the KIDS wall hanging for my husband’s work that has since been spotted hanging up would have to be amongst my favourite!
A quick reminder that there’s only 2 days left to order your Japanese Bundle Club for January! Get in quick if you’re wanting to grab a bundle of Japanese text fabric goodness of either 6 fat quarters or 6 fat eighths.

You’ve done a great job, Alyce! Everything is beautiful! I’m afraid to take a look back at my 100 Day Hustle list, because I think it’s probably still about the same.

Great job on accomplishing so much on your hustle list. I have a friend who tried to find out what they were having and the baby just won’t cooperate so she is getting a gender neutral quilt too since she is due soon. Haha.

You did a lot of fun projects! Can’t wait to see how you end up quilting your tops. I am looking forward to putting my HST BOM together but there are a couple of other projects ahead of it.
