Last night saw the arrival of my sister-in-law and her husband!! After 7 long months of no family (or babysitters!), we are revelling in their presence. It has been so nice already to have adult company and grown up conversations and joke around with others. We love each other, but it’s so much fun having other people to hang out with! And of course we ordered a few things for them to bring us from Australia…
A 24″ ruler!!! It would seem that they quilt in centimetres here in Japan. All the rulers and cutting mats and fabric cuts are measured in centimetres. I’m in need of a bigger cutting mat (currently have a 10″ x 17″ one) and while I can compromise and just buy a centimetred one here, there’s no way I’ll use a centimetre ruler! So I asked them to bring me one. And they decided to get the funky yellow one – which I actually prefer as it makes it easier to focus on the markings than a clear one!
They also picked up a large spool of white Gutermann for me; my standard piecing thread. I still have a 500m spool left from the Yokohama Quilt Festival, so they should last me the next couple of months until I’m in Australia in February to pick up more!
Unpictured is also some more Sewline glue refills from Want It, Need It, Quilt as I just ran out and couldn’t find anymore locally. So I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and got it sent to my in-laws house! I was also expecting some fabric and Aurifil that had been sent to my in-laws’ house soon after we left Australia seven months ago, but unfortunately that didn’t make it and now I have to wait another 2 months until I can bring it myself! Argh, what a test of patience it has been! Now, while the boys are still out shopping and exploring the electronics store and the kids and their aunty are napping, I’m going to go enjoy my other awesome Australiana…
My favourite and sorely missed magazine!
Linking up to Sunday Stash at Luellabella!

I love it when family comes to visit and they bring things one can’t find in the current country, I always ask for Hot Tamales (a type of candy, I have no idea if they have it in Australia) and Tapioca. I hope you have a lovely visit and get some much needed babysitting and quite time with your husband.
