I have had such a wonderful few months of blogging and quilting. I’ve met beautiful friends-for-life, I’ve absolutely loved sharing Japanese fabric with you all, and I’ve been thrilled with how I’m beginning to be brave and try new quilting techniques, styles and patterns! I like my comfort zone and am a perfectionist, and quilting has seriously been such a big help in overcoming those tendencies.
I am determined that next year, I’ll give back to the quilting community in a variety of ways. One big thing I’d like to do more of is contributing financially. I am on a limited fabric budget, so I can’t buy up from lots of different online fabric stores to support small businesses, but I can offer occasional self-funded giveaways on my blog and hopefully others’ soon too, and, I can donate towards worthy kickstarter funding campaigns by fellow quilting enthusiasts to help their dreams come true. Not much, but I know every bit counts!
One that I just chipped in towards to start this off is for Fabricate Magazine. I yearn for physical quilting magazines (in English!) once more, and know how wonderful it would be to have a wider range of modern quilting magazines. That is what Kerry is hoping to achieve for the UK and beyond! There’s only 6 days left of her funding campaign, so please, chip in what you can!
I’m also planning on a few free patterns and tutorials… Now to find the time to get them made, along with the quilt patterns I have in mind and on paper too! The trick is to find a purpose for the final product to give that extra oomph of motivation.
I’d like to encourage you all to find ways to give back with your quilting. Maybe it’s joining a charity quilting bee, or donating finished quilts to those in need. Get creative!

I did a lot of giving away last year and will continue that this year, as well….It feels so good to help those in need and and I get to do what I love, which is to make quilts. It’s a win-win….
