It’s been a crazy busy month catching up on lots of bits and pieces. A big part of which has been all my Bee blocks! And for the record, I don’t trim/square or press my blocks at the end so as to allow for international postage squish!
This block is the Scrapbuster Block by Little Miss Shabby and is for Melissa. I had no end of trouble with this block, and it still isn’t perfect. Tiny 1″ finished pieces don’t like me very much.
Next up is the Modern Sliced Scrappy Block by Don’t Call Me Betsy for Kristy. Not very wonky, but neither was Kristy’s… we don’t do wonky well! So I’m not so worried about this one.
Then there was February’s Wombat Stew block for Marieka. She asked for retro kitchen, and was the inspiration for Kristy’s new patterns – Sew Retro and Sew Retro 2! Most months I’ve designed my own block, but this time I asked Kristy to design this vintage Pyrex dish pattern for me as she wanted to design a set and I wanted to play with fussy cutting fabric for it! And boy did I have fun pulling fabric for it! A bit of Brrr! by Laurie Wisbrun and some Kanji from Half Moon Modern.
The final Bee block was March’s Wombat Stew block for Fiona. For her month, she wanted mid-century furniture… Say what?! Kristy to the rescue again as I draw a blank when it comes to this period of interior design. I also have a huge deficiency in browns! In hindsight, I should’ve used a lighter brown for the “inner” sideboard pieces.
BOM blocks are always optional, but it was nice to catch up on my And Sew On… blocks as I hadn’t done February’s seam ripper block, and I wanted to get March’s spools block done before the end of the month so I could link up.
Yes, the mistakes in the seam ripper block are intentional – hello seam ripper!
And the magical floating Aurifil-esque spools? Not intentional. Sigh. But I decided to just live with it rather then get out Jack the Ripper yet again this month. He’s made a few too many appearances for these blocks…

Alyce – don’t know why but you are currently showing as a “no reply” blogger on my reading list? Is that a glitch?

As much as I looked, I couldn’t see any mistakes in your seam ripper block! I LOVE your paper pieced blocks. The fussy cutting in the Pyrex block is sensational – your fabric selection is perfect. Fiona’s Wombat Stew block is just gorgeous (she is going to LOVE it!). And the fabrics for the thread on your spools…well, I wish I’d thought of using text fabric! LOVE them all. Well done on getting them all done!
