Marieka asked for Garden Fence blocks using a favourite print of our’s in the middle and a coordinating solid for the outside. The solid isn’t a perfect match, but it picks up the grey undertones of the blue sakura fabric very nicely. Talking of Japanese florals – there’s only one Japanese Bundle Club bundle left for May’s Sweet Spring bundle!
Bees and BOMS: April
It’s been a slightly quieter month for Bees because for one of them, I’m queen! But I’ve had fun this month – this Wombat Stew block is for Gemma who asked for birthday party themed blocks. These pompoms finish up at 6″ square, and I’ve used a light and dark solid with coordinating Sketch in the middle for each one. I will share how I made them using a popular free pattern soon – tutorial now available!
Then there’s the BOMs. This scissors block is for Kristy’s And Sew On… BOM, which I quickly did yesterday so as to get it done and linked up by the end of the month! I used my own fabric scissors as inspiration, using a Japanese text print for the handles and Painter’s Canvas for the blades. The spool features a fussy cut Japanese sewing print and I will FMQ a thread from the spool when I’m quilting it all up at the end.
