… The busy, getting-bees-and-BOMs-and-QALs-done-before-the-end-of-the-month time of the month! Especially given the wet and windy weather here this week. Perfect for bunkering down for sewing! This is the first of 4 butterfly blocks for QCA Bee #5. Tracy has asked for 6″ finished butterfly blocks to make a quilt for her daughter. She will be embroidering different uplifting words and phrases of encouragement on the bodies of the butterflies. Such a beautiful idea! It’s fun to play with some colourful prints too – bee blocks are usually blender-based, and I usually only play with blenders unless I’m using a line of fabrics together.
I’ve also been busy cutting for the first couple of blocks for the Modern Block QAL. You might have seen some photos on Instagram floating around hashtagged #modernqal – it’s fun to see the different fabrics everyone else is using! Although since this photo, I need to change out the darker yellow for a more saturated one. If you’d love to join in, link up your blog here so we can all see who’s joining in and join the hashtagging fun on Instagram!
