I have previously fooled around with clothing… discounting a nightmare pair of boxer shorts in awful silky polyester stuff in year 8 (by the way, who does that to beginner sewists?!)… having made a very quick and too-big elastic waisted skirt for Isabelle’s first birthday party. And then last week I bravely put my hand up to pattern-test for Sew Jerelli’s new kids’ PJ pants pattern – now available for free in 5 sizes (18m – 5T) with a fab tutorial!
And I did it! Sure they aren’t perfectly constructed, but they fit perfectly, so that’s what counts, right?! As this was pre-pattern+tutorial launch, I used Sew Delicious Ros’s tutorial to help make sense of 3D sewing. I’ve now bought a gorgeous Japanese fabric to make a pair for Isabelle too, before thinking of branching out into other items of clothing. Oh, and ignore his cranky face. He loves them, just didn’t want his photo taken!

You did an awesome job! They look gorgeous and I am so so happy they fit well, since that’s my end of the deal. They are the best confidence builder and sewing pj pants is where I started out. You made them without the tutorial so you get a huge bonus for that!

They look great Alyce, I’d love to be able to do Pj’s or stuff people can’t see ;).
I have a pattern a friend lent me …never gave it back oops.

They look fab! Great choice of fabric too.
In high school, they made us make a pair of shorts, and then a drop waist pleated skirt! That was a bitch to make, however I used to wear it all the time.

Tried commenting on my iPad last night but didn’t work. Not your fault mine. Purely mine! Hey, you did a fab job with the pants! Pants are so hard to put together and sew. I remember having to sew a pair of shorts at school when I was about 14. And that was using those old Singer sewing machines…no not the electric ones mind you.
