I have had the urge to try sewing clothes for a while. I dabbled with kids’ PJ pants, and won. And now I have my eyes set on sewing a top for me. I’m thinking the Wiksten tank as I know that style suits me already, having got 2 similar tanks in my wardrobe and I’ve heard good reports about it’s suitability for beginners. But what has clinched is finding the PERFECT fabric for it.
This beauty is It’s a Plus in grey from Koi Voile by Rashida Coleman-Hale. I want all of Koi anyway (hello Antipodean!), but this… this is perfect. Non-directional, grey background so not see-through and thus not requiring an under layer which I can’t wear in Japan’s summer, and pretty! I also really love The Way Of Flowers, but that’s white. I’ll quite probably buy it anyway though.
And so, when this fabric arrives instore in July, remind me to buy it and get making! No chickening out!

I’m having the same urge to start trying to sew some clothes – quite tempted by the roly poly pinafore at imagine gnats.

Garment sewing is fun!! I will remind you that you want to sew a tank when this fabric comes out ๐

Lucky you live in Japan…it would be totally awkward if I copied both your fabric and pattern choice and we bumped into each other ๐ That voile is divine!
Also check out the Colette Sorbetto pattern – it’s a free one, and would be perfect as well.

Love how the voile looks from that line, am also thinking of sewing up some clothes with it ๐
