These pretty little butterflies are for QCA Bee #5 – Tracy asked for fun, bright prints that make us happy for her daughter. She is going to embroider happy, encouraging and inspiring words and phrases on the white strips. Some bee members embroidered their’s, but I didn’t want for my first, probably rather wonky, attempt at embroidering to be for someone else! That wouldn’t be very fair for her!
Gemma asked for stacked coins block following this Art Gallery tutorial, but without one short strip end so that when sewn together, there isn’t 2 short strips next to each other. She’s making a quilt for her housekeeper as a goodbye present due to their return to Australia next year. I believe these colours are her housekeeper’s country’s colours?
May was the month for sewing together our Wombat Stew blocks, and you’ve already seen Itadakimasu!
I managed to get my bee blocks done last month, but I didn’t get my May And Sew On… block done last month. I did however start catching up on my Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery BOM! I’ve sewn up blocks 8 and 9, and the remainder are cut up awaiting piecing.
The final BOM block is for the Modern Blocks QAL – this month is the Spool block. The Crafty Mummy has shared the tutorial for this block, and this month’s prize for a lucky linker upper is a 10″ Stacker of The Sweetest Thing! A quick and easy block to piece and a fun chance to show off a big print, although in this case, my zig zaggy Art Gallery print from Bazaar Style was just perfect to represent thread!
Today’s stop for the Kate Spain blog hop is over at Sew Lux! Well, Monday American time, so you might have to wait a few hours… Timezones, the nemesis of blog hops 😉

Looks like you’ve been bee blocking like I was last weekend! Intense! Beautiful stuff going in here! What’s the fabric in you stacked coin block, second from the right, blue background with some flowers on it? I have some of that too!

Love how you’ve used the zigzag as thread, I’d never have thought of that!

You’ve been so busy Alyce!! I love the blue and orange of the stacked coin block (I’ve been collecting blue and orange to make a quilt for myself – with some grey thrown in!).
