So, I was going to wait until Koi Voile came out to brave garment sewing for the first time, but when I looked at the Wiksten tank pattern, it seemed pretty straight forward and I was itching to get started. As these things usually turn out, I found this gorgeous Floressence print on sale for $7.80/yd at The Intrepid Thread whilst shopping for ninja fabric. That’s cheaper than what I could buy any muslin-type fabric locally, so why not try it in a fabric I would actually wear if it works out?!
Yesterday, I carefully pieced, taped and cut the pattern and pressed the fabric, cut it out last night while watching Japan vs. Australia in the World Cup qualifier (we lost, darn! Japan won, yay!) and got as far as the shoulder and side seams all done. Tonight will be armhole and neck binding, and bottom hem. I’m nervous about working with the bias binding – I haven’t worked much with bias cut other than HSTs, but they’re small and pliable. And not finishing a garment to be worn! But I’m really happy with it so far, especially because it’s a perfect fit! Great length, perfect in the bust, neckline is not too high and not too low… Just call me Goldilocks. No seriously, it was a childhood nickname, so feel free to call me Goldilocks!

Blog Hops Deets
Today’s stop for the Kate Spain Blog Hop is over at Christa Quilts! She’s making a quilt this month from In From The Cold and it’s a great free pattern! Maybe you might like to make one too to enter in the final link up at the end of the month? I’m adding all the posts to a Kate Spain Blog Hop Pinterest board – follow along there to get inspiration!
I am also participating in A Season By Hand blog hop at Clover & Violet. Today I’m sharing about what I hand sew and some tips for “travelling by hand”. If you have plans to hand sew anything over this summer/winter, check it out because there’s some great prizes on offer if you join in!

Yay! It looks great, that fabric is lovely. I just made the Colette Sorbetto which has a very similar shape and I found it pretty easy. Like you I was pretty nervous about the binding but it came out ok. I plan to cut a second one today – I am building up a supply of summer clothes over winter ๐
