It’s no secret how much I love Craftsy. I haven’t had much chance to watch lessons lately as it’s summer holidays and two little kids are playing very well together, but very noisily! And any enforced nap times I can get, are spent doing whatever it is I want to do quietly. But I thought it might interest you to know that it’s not all raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens for me on Craftsy. Recently, I had some bobbin issues, and I turned to Craftsy’s free Sewing Machine 911 class to see if it could help. It didn’t really (because my problem was elsewhere), but it did show me something else that I want to share with you.
To be honest, I haven’t watched it all because I just couldn’t – for me, the manner and voice of a presenter/lecturer/teacher has a huge impact on my willingness and ability to learn. All the other classes I have watched have had interesting, engaging instructors and the learning process is fun. With this class, I felt like I was being read a textbook. The visual aspect of being shown what she was talking about at the time was useful, but again, textbook audio.
I’m usually of the “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all” camp. But when it’s important, I sleep over at the “honesty is the best policy when said for the sake of constructive criticism and opportunities for growth” camp. You won’t find me leaving harshly critical blog comments anywhere, and if asked for feedback, I will do so very nicely for fear of offending! But I thought this was an important point to make – if I plug a class on Craftsy, you can trust that it’s because I enjoy it, not just because I’m a proud affiliate!
