Today was supposed to be my grand final Sweet Pouch Swap post sharing the goodies I sent to my partner, and what she sent to me. Except all the photos are on my phone and on my laptop… both of which have currently just taken off from Narita International Airport on their way to America! My husband and I swapped phones as his iPhone’s wifi broke with the iOS5 update (a common problem – some were just lemons) and my laptop is small, light and has a great battery life. So alas, we will have to wait until next Friday and put up with this photo off Instagram of what I was sent – a beautiful, little Bonnie & Camille bag, with a Fandango 2.5″ x 5″ charm pack, 2.5″ pack of a very old Bonnie & Camille line, a necklace and some seaglass! At the time of the photo, the chocolates were re-setting in the fridge, but very delicious Cadbury Caramello and a Roasted Almond, and, dark salted caramel Ghiradelli’s! I love Ghiradelli’s chocolates, and it’s the fault of quilting swaps!! Last Christmas in swap, I was sent their Peppermint Bark… Oh. So. Good!!!
Talking of which, dear American readers, is this flavour available year-round or only at Christmas?? Also, tell me your favourite modern American quilting magazines easily available in shops for my husband to try and find for me! He left with a big suitcase barely half full, and I intend on helping him return with a much fuller, heavier suitcase. A couple of shopping orders already on their way to his hotel will certainly help!

Too bad there wasn’t enough room for you in that suitcase! Unfortunately, the Peppermint Bark is available only around the holidays. But, with rampant commercialization here in the States, it may be out very soon. Tell your hubby that a good place to find all quilt magazines is Barnes and Noble Booksellers. (They also carry the bark, so if it’s out, there’s a good chance it will be there.) B&N carries the best selection, and it’s where I go to find the Aussie magazines. They carry the French and Irish quilt mags too. The other good place to find a good selection is Joann’s Fabrics. The modern magazines that I usually buy are “Quilts and More” and “Quilty”. There are others, but I tend to stick with the pattern oriented ones. Hopefully, your other readers will chime in on this.
And, the tote bag is adorable. Lucky swap partner!

Can totally relate to filling husbands suitcase with fabric, used to do this when we lived in Singapore and hubby went to the US often. I really enjoyed being part of the pouch swap and Claudia from quilt Links was such a lovely partner to swap with. I really love following your blog, thank you.

So, ever since you mentioned it, I have been checking around, and it seems the Peppermint Bark is only available at Christmas (which means, after Halloween, it should be available).
As far as magazines go, I’m not much help as I don’t usually buy them…the good ones are usually at Barnes & Noble or other bookstores, the more traditional ones can be found at grocery stores, etc.

Peppermint bark is a Christmas thing, but I know there are recipes online for making your own!
My very favorite quilt magazine is Quilty. It’s super fun and modern, but not toooo modern 😉 Sometimes you can find good patterns in others, but I just love the whole package of Quilty.
Very cute pouch!

Yes, usually Joann’s has a giant rack of magazines. Some quilt shops have magazines, some carry more books. If you can find one of the large Barnes and Nobles they will also have a good selection. My local one isn’t very impressive but the bookstores in say, Denver were impressive.
