Quick shop update – the final sale orders have been shipped this week after being away and then New Year closures. Thanks for your patience!
From the very start of my Easy As ABC quilt, I knew I wanted to use this perfect print from PB&J by Basic Grey. It’s a little “muted” compared to the bright rainbow and white front, but I wanted that; I wanted to tone it down a little, add some masculinity if you will. But I didn’t want to order 4+ yards of backing for cost reasons, so I decided to use the scraps from front to piece together a backing.
I’ve started piecing the scraps together into slabs of colour. They will go in colour order along one side of the alphabet print to make up the width difference, and need to be 12″ long (plus a little more for the top and bottom slabs for quilting leniency). Some colours are definitely quicker than others – for red, I thankfully had enough left of the Farmyard Blossoms to just have one piece; I pieced together the two orange prints with one seam; and, the final pink Cuzco print is also big enough to keep whole.
You can see the progress people are making in the Flickr group – some people have already got their quilts quilted! Clever duckies! The final linky will open on Monday, you can find all the info here.
