I’m impressed that I lasted a whole month before begrudging the fabric fast in a serious manner. Yesterday I sat down to finish off my Pantone Quilt Challenge top, only to think that I had made a math error with my already-cut purple fabrics and thus recut more. Only to then realise that I hadn’t made a math error. And so now I’ve cut large triangles out of all my decent “Radiant Orchid”-esque purple fabrics. Major grr moment! I meand, just look at that! Tula Pink, Collage, Summersville, Art Gallery Fabrics… Sigh. So here’s hoping I don’t have any need for large chunks of purple fabric for the next 5 months!
That and I’m probably going fabric shopping with a visitor next weekend and it’s not going to be quite as much fun if I’m not buying anything! Good thing their company will more than make up for it xx
And talking of stash blenders, all red and pink fabrics are on sale until Valentines Day! That also includes Kumiko Fujita calendars and Nursery Versery! While stocks last, no coupon code needed.
Final little bit of news, you can also find me over at Le Challenge talking about the Tokyo Great International Quilt Festival and what makes Japanese quilts seem so Japanese!

Ahhhhhhh that’s the WORST! Why in the world our brains do that strange erroneous second-guessing nonsense is beyond me. On a positive note, at least you didn’t cut into what you had already cut to fix anything? ๐ Can’t wait to see what the properly-cut bits will evolve into!

These are my general thoughts. I don’t think a fabric fast is usually feasible. It’s better to reduce or limit purchases while making and/or destashing. You don’t want to miss out on a great deal or something you’ve been looking forward to, either.

Maybe you can sweet talk your visitor into sharing fabric purchases? ๐

Alyce ….I truly understand what it is like to think that you have miscalculated and then realize after cutting more fabric that you hadn’t. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one! Love your post over on Le Challenge and I am very grateful for all the photos you posted on IG!

I could always go for purples!
Lucy @ charmaboutyou says
Maybe you could use the extra triangles on the back? Love those reds! Thank you again for your brilliant guest post!

I am definitely not one for a fabric fast and I would have failed 4 weeks ago. Love those radiant orchid colors you ‘accidentally’ cut into. I like the idea I’d using them on the back just the way you planned it, right?
Leigh Anne says
Oh man, that’s the worst feeling ever! But it’s only five more months and you can totally do this! If you end up needing purple before then, just let me know. I’ll send you some ๐ Nothing says we can’t trade during the fabric fast LOL
Whitney says
Oh no! I did that once, cut a bunch of my favorite fabric into too many 4″ squares. I was able to use what I needed, but the rest went in the scrap bucket. Hopefully I’ll need them for more HSTs or something in the future?
Sarah @ Berry Barn Designs says
Eep! I can sympathize. I’m about to cut up purples for the challenge and I’m already in “as little as possible” because it’s my favorite color and I hate to waste it! Maybe your visitor will treat you to a little stash addition as a hostess gift ; )
Molli Sparkles says
I can totally buy you a hostess gift? That’s allowed right? Seems like it should be allowed to me!!! Seems like it should actually be part of the rules! LOL!
