I seriously love this swap. Like, seriously. This time, I had Jenny as my partner, and we had fun challenging each other to think beyond your standard small zippered pouch because we both had plenty of those. So I decided this was the time to learn how to make a lined drawstring bag!
Jenny said her favourite candy flavours were citrus, so I decided to use some bright, fresh, citrusy-summer colours. I browsed through her Flickr favourites and was inspired by this zippered pouch, not realising that it was in fact one that she had made for her partner in Round 2! I also noticed from her own Flickr pics and her favourites, that she is drawn to saturated blender fabrics. So I drew up a herringbone guide in EQ7 with lines an inch apart to keep my angles the same and then improv-ed the widths of the fabric pieces. I used some fussy cut Jenean Morrison for the accent pieces at the top, a Quilt Blocks print for the back and it’s lined with Riley Blake Girl Chevron. Some measuring tape twill tape was the perfect final touch for the drawstring!
Inside, I stuffed it full of sweet treats – of the sugary, fabric and notion variety! Jenny said she loved gummy and sour candy, which Japan has a plenty to choose from! I also added my favourite choc-coated macadamias and some matcha (green tea) flavoured cookie/cake bites.
I arrived home from work on Wednesday night to find a big, squishy package waiting for me… and woweee! Blown. Away. The kids just loved the PB&J chocolate, and those Trader Joe sea salt, turbinado sugar, chocolate coated almonds?! Soooo moreish!
I had seen sneak peeks on Instagram of these cross-stitch blocks in my favourite (and blog!) colours, and I just love what she’s done with them!
And look at that label!
The back is just as gorgeous too. Ohhh those colours!
It’s a biiiig one, perfect for my cross-stitch hoop, which means I have no more excuses and should get my butt into gear to start one of the Frosted Pumpkin patterns I’ve bought! Thank you so much, Jenny, I am in love!
