It’s potentially time for my fabric fast to draw to an end. I’m very proud for having lasted over 4 months all up should I do end up clicking that Checkout button! Yes, my fabric fast has allowed me to buy solids, backings and bindings as needed, but those are used up straight away, and the time is coming for me to re-stash in general. You see, I’ve used up most of my purples, and what does remain aren’t prints I would use a lot of anyway due to the fact that I love blenders and these have too much white or black or other. Good for using as cushion backs or piecing quilt backs, but not for my piecing! I have an assortment sitting in my Hawthorne Threads cart (chosen due to their superb colour grid search option and yardage under $10/m!), but here’s 3 favourites that are making it a lot more tempting to click that Checkout button.
True Colors | Anna Maria Horner – Haystack Bouquet in Navy
Nothing much navy about it, but it’s a gloriously saturated with not too much variation between the shades of purple. It’s also a small-scale print and non-directional, which makes it very easy to use.
Baby Dino | Camelot Cottons House Designer – Rings In Purple
Yes, there is some white, but sparsely located and this shade of purple is a beautiful lolly (candy) grape without being too bright! The rings measure 1/2″, so it’s small-scale again and it means the white rings aren’t huge chunks of the print.
True Colors | Anna Maria Horner – Medallion In Violet
I have a few different good “basic” purple prints in the cart, but this one was a unique shade of purple that would be very useful. It’s a bluey-purple, which is a hard shade to find, and the print scale isn’t too big. It would be a good one to fussy cut!
TIP: A big help while choosing prints was to Google Image search them to see what they look like “in real life”. These online swatches aren’t often that accurate compared to the prints on actual fabric in various lighting. I would not have chosen the Medallion in Violet print if I hadn’t seen a photo of it during one of these searches!
Do you have any more purple recommendations for me?

Love these purples! Especially with the navy. I found one recently found one by swirly girls designs for Michael Miller called Cottage Path in Plum….great tone on tone.

AMH’s purples are my weakness lately. She’s really hit the nail on that color. So glad you found what you are looking for and have fun fulfilling your shopping cart….hehe! I love me some Hawthorn Threads!

To be honest, the AMH in navy, I would say is more a pink than a purple. I tried matching it with some other colours in my stash, but I don’t have anything in the same shade for comparison.
Other purples: Alison Glass has a few (corsage, feathers), Lizzy House Pearl Bracelets (the new tone on tone ones – *swoon*), Lotta Jansdotter’s Mormor has a couple of purples, there’s some in Kate Spain’s Daydreams too, V and Co’s first two lines had some great purple prints (but might be a bit hard to find, though I think Fat Quarter Shop still has Simply Style available).

The Mormor purples are gorgeous. And I love the Collage purples – I think Carrie’s new line (Paintbox) has purple in it too 🙂
