As soon as my sister (who left on Saturday, sob!) saw my new skirt, she told me I’d be making her one while she was visiting us. Done! I took her fabric shopping, she chose, I washed, ironed, sewed, she threaded the elastic (she only wanted three rows of elastic for a skinnier waist band), I sewed some more, and done! One new skirt for my baby sister.
I have to say, this pattern is so beginner-friendly!! Crooked elastic casing seams? No problem, all hidden in the gathering. This skirt was a bit more challenging given the fabric print she chose, and it certainly isn’t the straightest/matched-up patterned skirt, but again, the gathering hides a myriad of mistakes! When I was sewing my skirt, I used the selvage edge as the bottom of the skirt to line things up horizontally and then hemmed as needed. The side seams weren’t matched up, but again, gathering! This time it was a little less easy, but it got done and she loves it, and that’s what matters most!

I love your honesty and make it more ‘real’. I always have problems lining things up especially in cutting and sometimes struggle just doing a rectangle. It really is a lovely skirt. Hope you get to see your baby sister again soon.

I really really should start taking out my sewing machine again. That skirt looks really easy to make and your sis has great taste in fabric choice too.
