I just noticed that this season’s Blogger’s Quilt Festival has opened and this time I actually have some quilts to enter! I’ve decided to enter my original Bright Sky quilt and also my new Lighthearted Geese quilt for Kokka.
Most of you will have already heard the background story for this quilt and the resulting pattern (and now currently a QAL!) – my desire to make my BFF a quilt for her birthday coincided with the Radiant Orchid quilt competition. With purple and teal/aqua being her favourite colours, I knew I needed to combine them. And drastically upsizing a quilt block I have in Fat Quarterly was the perfect pattern in which to do so!
I finished the top and backing off and sent it to Gemma to work her longarm quilting magic, and paid a bit extra for her to bind, photograph and send to my hometown in Adelaide for my sister to hand deliver to my BFF. I am so in love with it and can’t wait to see it in person sometime!
At 64″ square, this quilt is headed for the Large Quilts category. Voting opens November 1st if you really love this quilt and would like to support it in the competition by voting!
