Last week, I woke up at 5am after a much too late a night for such an early alarm and sat down to chat with Tsoniki for her Me Being Crafty podcast! I was rather nervous, but Tsoniki has very good people skills and quickly put me to ease. One thing she mentioned was liking the behind the scenes stuff I share like the blog sponsorship series. So, here’s one more for you: what it’s like being interviewed for a podcast!
Drink lots of water. But not so much as to make the nervous need to pee even worse! It’ll help lubricate your throat, but you’ll still probably cough. And I did – one major coughing fit that was neatly edited out.
You do actually make sense. Well, hopefully! I was so worried I had rambled on, but listening to it last night, I do think my stories made sense and came through clearly. With maybe a liberal dash of run-on sentences!
Just chat. Sometimes I tend to go into formal presentation mode when talking about my work or in situations like this, but Tsoniki is really easy to talk to, and her questions provide plenty of space to tell your story!
Be prepared to surprise yourself. As Tsoniki asked me the questions and I thought about my answers, I realised something. Well, maybe re-realised is more accurate? You may notice that throughout the podcast, as I’m telling the stories of blog posts or patterns, that so many of them end up with the word ‘tutorial’. I love teaching. I love sharing my experiences and ideas and designs, and have done so from the very beginning of this blog. But listening to this interview just really made me realise just how ingrained my love for teaching is within!
So if you’ve ever wondered what my voice sounds like, or how to pronounce my name, Alyce (and no, it’s not ‘Alice’) or want to hear a lot more “behind the scenes” stuff about my blog, my patterns and more, go check out the podcast! You can also subscribe to Me Being Crafty on iTunes or through Stitcher to keep updated with her fantastic new episodes – I love listening each week to people I already know from around the web or being introduced to other creative people!

You’re brave to listen to yourself! I hate hearing myself when recorded so I could never do it lol!
