You know how it goes… “I’m not going to get much, I don’t really need it and…”
Yeah, about that… Let’s see, there’s a fat quarter bundle of Sun Print 2015 Mercury from Alison Glass, as well as 2 yards of the purple Petal print from Handcrafted to make another skirt for me, that I ordered from her store to pick up in my class. Then there’s a 14-piece fat quarter bundle of Folk Song and a yard of Succulents by CrimsonTate, both from her fabric store at QuiltCon. And on the left is a pile of assorted prints ranging from 1/4 yards and fat quarters to half yards that I picked up from Sew Modern or Urban Spools in store, with that gorgeous golden Botanics print (my favourite low volume print to use at the moment!) also from a booth at QuiltCon.
But in my defense, I did need to restash some mild oranges (because everything have is very bright!), non-yellowy greens and add some more diversity to my soft greys and browns low volumes (that’s what I classify as low volume for me). As for the rest? Well… Yeah.
Not to mention all this lot too. The mini charms were freebies from the goodie bag and the Moda booth game. That little fat quarter of Sunday Clippings was from Melissa when I was woe-ing the fact I had missed it so she gave me her last piece! And then the rest? Well, that’s what happens when your friend sews for Robert Kaufman and has a cupboard full of excess fabric and tells you to cut whatever you want… That’s a whole lotta Jennifer Sampou! Most are about 1/3 yard cuts. And it was all in my carry on bag because that much fabric is heavy and my checked luggage had 1lb of spare weight…
So now you’ve read about my experience at QuiltCon, the fabrics from QuiltCon, and I do want to share one more “Makes of QuiltCon” to share both what I made for myself and also a couple of gifts I got on my trip! You can find more stories and pics by checking out #bhqquiltcon on Instagram too.

Well I’m not surprised that you came home with a haul. Perhaps you were the only one who thought you could resist all that temptation on offer. I think it’s nice to bring back souvenirs from a trip. You will look at these fabrics for years and remember happy times at QuiltCon.

Girl, I didn’t know you had that type of destruction in you! Way to work!

Well done! It can’t be easy reducing all your wants to that. I think you have chosen superbly!! I adore them all (particularly the bundle of Folk Song – I’m looking forward to seeing it make an appearance in another form on your blog!).

You shopped very well. Lots of lovely pieces there especially the Alison Glass, I love her fabric.
When I went to Europe a couple of years ago I visited three quilting shops, I posted home about 2 kilos of fabric from Dublin, then I bought home with me 6 kilos of fabric it was a good thing we flew Emirates 30 kilos of luggage allowed!!!

I was just congratulating myself on having bought no fabric this year… then I read this and caught myself stalking some of those fabrics on line. Bad girl. I’ve slapped myself and said “Get thee behind me Alyce”. I am going back to cleaning up my sewing room now to convince myself I have no room for any more fabric…
