This month I’ve joined the May Is For Makers campaign to support fellow quilt designers by purchasing 5 patterns this month. Lindsey suggests one per week, but I’ve already gotten all 5… I just wanted to order in bulk from Fabric Patch to save on shipping! You see, I’ve decided to buy paper ones for once, so that I can support that side of the business and/or local quilt stores, plus do a little research into how paper patterns are laid out!
First off, I ordered Dozen Roses by Live Love Sew directly from Keera. I love this pattern and intrigues me as a designer, so I wanted to get it to see how she wrote the instructions for the blocks! What I didn’t realise was just how beautiful that actual pattern is, with great quality paper and so well-laid out. Best paper pattern I’ve ever bought!
Then I went for an embroidery pattern I’ve been eying off for a while now, actually! Block 5 from Mermaiden Tales by Cinderberry Stitches. My daughter loves mermaids, I enjoy embroidery, I’ve stocked up on a yards of Mendocino… this block needed to happen! I just loved the little message, with the mummy and daughter mermaid *nawww*
Next up is a possible idea for using aforementioned embroidery pattern and fabric… Strawberry Picnic by Tied With A Ribbon. I’m intrigued with the pluses formed in the negative space and what I could do with them! We shall see what ends up happening.
And I just had to get the Zip It Creative Card pattern by Emma Jean Jansen. Offering mini quilt patterns like this interest me so this one is both adorable and also research 😉
And finally, True North Mini by She Quilts A Lot. It’s adorable, Peta is so lovely, and I just had to have it!
Keen eyes may also notice that I’ve bought patterns from Australian designers. Yay Aussies! I wanted to make May Is For Makers even more special by keeping it local and supporting my fellow Aussies.
