We are now a third of the way through the Tula Pink City Sampler quilt along on Instagram! It’s been so much fun making this quilt, and last week I laid out all the blocks I’d sewn so far and I’m thrilled with how it’s coming along. I’m needing to have another big sit-and-cut session so that I can have another big sit-and-sew session soon, as I only have a few more blocks stockpiled, eep! But I’m loving how many chances I’ve had in my blocks to include sentimental little bits and pieces. Block 33 would have to be one of my favourites, as I finally had the chance to include Tokyo Disney Resort!
And it’s fitting in beautifully with the rest of my quilt blocks, just look at these lovelies, squee! I’m loving how they all look good on their own, but also fit in so well. It’s a little different for me to re-use fabrics a lot over the course of one, scrappy quilt, but I think it’s helping to tie it all together.
Laying them all out properly was a great idea so I could see how my colour flow was happening, so for example, I need to do some more mixed-tone blues that include some light and mid, and mid and dark, prints in the same block. Which is a little hard for me, but the quilt demands what it needs!

I’m doing this challenge too. I think it’s my favorite ever. Such easy peasy piecing and fast, fabulous results. Yay us!

It’s so satisfying, isn’t it!

I think I do some sewing ahead so I can stay on top of things. Your blocks look great.
Alyce says
That is the only way I can keep up!

Love this so much and using Tula Pink fabrics which is turning out so well. Did some blocks ahead so I feel I won’t get behind now. Love, love,, love!!
Alyce says
Yes, I’m doing the same!

Looking great so far! My blocks are tucked away in a box after I take their photo and are crying out to me for a group shot. I think I will do that shortly, so I can see what my quilt demands. Thanks for sharing.
Alyce says
You really should! It was a good way to get a sense of where I’m at and where I need to go.

I love your blocks!! I wanted to do this sew along too and I made a test block to try it out! Of course I loved the block and it was easy to make! But, I decided that one sew along (Farmer’s Wife) with 6 1/2″ blocks was enough!! I have really enjoyed seeing all the blocks on Instagram! So fun!! Good luck with yours!! Looking good!
Alyce says
HA! Yeah, let’s not talk about how my Farmer’s Wife is going…

I had no desire to do this one, but I am LOVING watching yours come together. Blues always look good, and you’ve chosen some great fabrics.

The book had survived my international-move-cull, so I really had no excuse not to, haha!
Angeline Shaka says
These are so pretty all laid out, I really like the blues.
Alyce says
Thank you! I’m so happy with how it’s working out!

This is going to be a delicious quilt! Your colors really flow from low volume to those intense navy pieces and all the wonderful things in between. Someday you need to tell us about Tokyo Disney! (That IS newspaper behind your blocks, right, or is it some terrific new Japanese text print?)
Alyce says
Ohhhh I wish it was fabric!
