When your quilty boyfriend celebrates a huge milestone, you join in the party, because you know this guy can par-tay! Sunday Stash is celebrating #200 at Molli Sparkles, and as I have a few new pieces I can share, I’ll jump on that bandwagon. First up, a different kind of stash… well, it’s still super useful and pretty and for sewing with, but, well, you’ll see…
I recently participated in the Australian Modern Quilt Guild pincushion swap. I shared mine a few weeks ago, but here’s what I received from Jenna. I love it! The pink scraps, with the dark grey linen… sigh. She got me good!
Fabric-wise, there’s this month’s Love Liberty Club from The Strawberry Thief. A cracker lot again! The top left print is definitely my favourite (don’t ask me what it is, I’m hopeless at remembering Liberty names!).
I had to pop into Spotlight earlier this week to grab some supplies, and as I was browsing the Flat Fats, I found a few “Special Flat Fats”… uh, yeah, I’d say these designer fabrics were special flat fats! I even had a gift card from my Modern Makers Retreat swag bag so technically, these were free…
On Tuesday, I headed over to Fairfield for a shopping and lunch date with Caroline. We hit up Cutting Cloth first, and ohhhh is that a pretty fabric store! So beautifully decorated! I picked up some 505 basting spray (CONVERTED) and this delicious Cloud 9 Collective print.
1) It is my colours. Pink, navy, teal, mustard, low volume, YUM! 2) That’s going into my binding pile and will definitely be the inspiration for a quilt’s colour palette so that it’s perfect to frame said quilt.
On a slightly unrelated topic, I do need to work out some more storage and organisation for my sewing stuff. It’s not that things have suddenly exploded, or that I don’t know where to put the new acquisitions, it’s that after I had my original sorting and organising of the cupboard I’m using, the honeymoon period of feeling organised from that is well and truly over, and now I’m looking at what’s still left to be done with a case of grumps. Things like my threads, and templates, and WIPs, and finished quilts! I may be asking Santa for an IKEA voucher…

Yes, Cutting Cloth is a very pretty store! Great purchases.

I personally liked the random white dinosaurs grazing on the fabric in the centre, haha!

I am still lovingly patting my fabrics but haven’t cut into them yet 🙂 You need to report on your 505 experiences!! I am curious if it might solve my difficulties with basting….

It was a little bit of work to prep the layers (given the small amount of floor space, thanks rainy weather!) but once it was ready, it went together so quickly! And quilting without pins?! A dream!

pretty and ractical the pin cushion and some nice new fabrics to add to th stash. Best of luck with ikea cabinets both my bookcases have died on me, mind you my fault trying to move them around they are not made for shifting!
Alyce says
My husband and I wandered through Ikea on Monday, planning and musing! But you’re correct, the cheaper they are, the less they should move.

How does everyone find cute fat flats at Spotlight…I never find any designers in ours? I should write a letter LOL You and Joshua are two of the first people I ever followed so now of course I blame you for all that has ensued, now you’re in Melbourne I think we’ll be able to catch up next year when I next visit #1 child YAY!
Alyce says
LOL! I’m yet to stumble upon any truly fantastic finds like Ms Midge finding Lizzy House on bolts for super cheap! But I’m pretty happy with these 😉 Ooh yay, would love to!

What fabulous additions. The pin cushion is a stunning piece, lucky you and well done to Jenna on such a beautiful make. And of course it’s always lovely to see some Liberty – I spy some of my favourites in that mix.
