Sometimes, there’s a project that you’re excited to see come to life, and this is one of those projects! I’ve been so excited to get to making this pattern, knowing that I was going to make the big size of this one: a 36″ big block baby quilt. And what is this one? The final Making Merry pattern, Snowflake.
I love the twirling half-square triangles dancing across the quilt top, the secondary shapes and lines that appear, that I emphasised with my quilting. And the darker Carolyn Friedlander print that I used for the binding, a perfect frame.
And plenty of opportunity for colour play, as evidenced by the variety of Snowflake projects made by my pattern testers!
Charlotte aka @mummydinosaursewingbasket whipped up two of the 6″ sized blocks. Look at the little cuties!
Fernanda made the 12″ version in two beautiful blues, and it looks geometrically fascinating when put on point like this.
Isabel aka @lambandwolfie also made two, in the 18″ size – one is for a Christmas swap.
And the other will be a Christmas gift for her niece.
Leanne aka @sewnbyleanne made the 24″ size, in cool blues and greens, and finished it with some equally cool free motion quilting.
Erin aka @quiltbystarlight has used two contrasting prints for her 36″ Snowflake quilt. Yum!
I’m also equally excited to announce that not only this pattern now available in PDF format, but that paper versions will also be available (expected in early next week). Yes, that’s right, paper patterns. I’ll be sharing more about those later this week!
