I spent last year looking on at Jodie’s mini Modern HST Sampler in awe, and had been toying with the idea of making mini Milky Way Sampler blocks this year. When I saw that she was going to do mini blocks again this year, I just knew I had to do it too! In fact, as I had to wait until I got back from our holiday last week, this was my first make for 2017 – a baby Sirius block.
I couldn’t decide what fabrics to use… Liberty, or some of my large stash of Carolyn Friedlander, or maybe even just my scraps from my 10″ blocks! But in the end, I decided to not to rainbow again, and to go with Liberty for a pretty pillow. I’m making my blocks at 4″ finished, and am making the Bundle version with a half inch border, so I’ll have a mini quilt that finishes at approximately 18″ x 18″ – perfect for a cushion!
If you want to make some at 4″ finished too, just reduce the templates by 60%. By the way, it’s humbling to photograph such small blocks… they show every little millimetre that you’re out in your sewing, haha!

The scale of Liberty is the right size for these little stars!

I thought I’d already commented, but must have done it in my head rather than on the page as it’s not here! (Also showing how behind I am by only reading the newsletter this evening!)
It looks great – it’ll be great having someone else doing mini versions this year too! Your finished block is very accurate – you can tell from the cutting mat lines that it’s bang on 4.5 inches. I may have been know to not photograph on the mat when it’ll show up that my measuring’s a bit out!

Haha! I just feel honoured that you still read it even “this late”. LOL, yeah, well, we shall see how many more get taken on the cutting mat. Although mini foundation paper piecing IS easier than standard piecing in miniature!
