Late last year, I had the chance to play with a gorgeous bundle of Japanese themed fabrics – Little Harajuku by Benartex Fabrics. Such a lovely range of prints! I decided that they needed to become a table runner of lanterns, inspired by our time at Japanese summertime festivals, eating delicious festival food underneath long strands of lanterns.
Finishing at 16″ x 52″, it’s a quick make to whip up and is a decent size for tables or sideboards. And it also helps use up the long strips of leftover batting from basting large quilts!
This pattern is now available in Handmade Issue 36 No 2, and you can find this fabric at Craft Depot.

Such pretty reds. I don’t like red very often, but think it works well in this pattern combined with the low volume backgrounds and grey.

I’m not a big red person either! But it’s quite a nice subtle red… if there is such a thing, haha!
