What would be a Christmas In July bundle of sewing and quilting patterns without some Christmas trees! Thankfully, you’ve got a few options to choose from in this year’s bundle. I couldn’t help but make two of them. First up is this one by Keera from Live Love Sew. It’s such a nice and quick block to whip up, and with the blocks finishing at 6″ x 6.5″, you could easily make nine for a fun Christmas pillow!
Which is exactly what I did… I left off the bottom strip in the block to make an 18″ x 18″ cushion top. I used a variety of blue and red Liberty prints, paired with a print from Maker Maker. The difference in fabric weights meant that a lot of Flatter went into the making of this to get those seams pressed! But I’m very happy with the result.
And of course there’s a foundation paper pieced geometric Christmas tree from Kristy at Quiet Play. This one finishes at 12″ square, and is a fantastic scrap buster for any and all greens you may have in your scrap bucket!
I decided to ignore my usual control freak ways and used a variety of prints from my scrap bucket. Big step here, folks, big step! So even thought there’s a wide range of greens (although I did cull one that was too blue), I used what I had. Including the grey Kona! All scrap bucket! It’ll keep growing today, including using some more of the Maker Maker fabric for the trunk, so stay tuned on Instagram for the final product – @blossomheartquilts.
There is one more Christmas tree quilt pattern included in the bundle, and it’s this pretty one by The Cloth Parcel. So you’re certainly not lacking options!
These patterns are only available in the Christmas In July Bundle, which you can buy here, but it’s only available until 12pm July 13 Thursday (PST)/5am July 14 Friday (AEST).
