As an unashamed lover of sampler quilts and block of the month programs, it should come as no surprise that it’s a block of the month quilt along that I’ve created in partnership with AccuQuilt. I’m so excited to share it with you!
I love the GO! Qubes that AccuQuilt have – all the basic shapes regularly used in quilt blocks in one set. A quilter’s box set! You can get them in 6″, 8″, 9″ and 12″ finished block sizes. And that’s what this AccuQuilt BOM is all about – a GO! Qube sampler quilt. For the next year, I will be sharing a new block pattern on the third Wednesday of each month on the AccuQuilt Australia blog that uses the shapes in the GO! Qube sets. Across the course of the year, every die will be used except for the largest square.
The sampler quilt is called Patisserie, and was inspired by, well, pastries. And cookies. And eclairs. And donuts. Each block is a bite-sized delight! My main quilt uses the GO! Qube Mix & Match 8″ set, which will yield a sweet 36″ x 46″ quilt. I’m using sweet pastels from the Solids Club provided by Jules at The Creative Retreat with Kona Ash for the background. Each block features a darker and a lighter solid fabric, and block 1 uses Free Spirit Saffron and Kona Lemon. Yum!
What’s awesome about the GO! Qubes is that you can use any size GO! Qube set that you have to create the exact same block design, just at a different size. Because if I say use Shape 2 to make four squares, Shape 2 in each set will be the same type of square (a quarter of the finished block size). You just have to use a different size of fabric to begin with! So I’m also making one with the GO! Qube 6″ block set in the bright colours from the Solids Club, paired with Kona Charcoal. Such a good contrast!
As you might be able to tell from that picture, I’ve already finished the 6″ quilt top, so I’ll be sharing that soon once it’s all quilted and bound, that is to say, once this little Patisserie is stocked and ready for opening 😉

I so enjoyed doing your HST BOM but wonder if you will be giving instructions for this new BOM for those of us who do not have a accuquilt machine or any other machine for cutting fabrics. I do so hops so.
Alyce says
Thanks Margie! This is a collaboration with AccuQuilt, so unfortunately there won’t be rotary cutting instructions.

On the fence about this machine, but get more and more convinced that it would be a good addition to my studio.

Not only does it make fun blocks like this, but being able to cut out bulk amounts of the basic shapes used in everyday quilting?! Even squares and rectangles and strips in various sizes, nevermind when you have a million HSTs to make?! Priceless! It has saved me so much time.

I agree with Margie stitcher. I do not have an accuquilt machine either but would love to have the instructions for these lovely blocks.

Thanks, Coline! It’s a collaboration with AccuQuilt, so there won’t be rotary cutting instructions made available.
