It’s been an exciting week of Liberty around these here digs! Last week, I placed my first order online at Liberty London when I read somewhere that they had a new lot of fabrics on super sale (aka 50% off). What this means is that instead of around AU$50/m for local Liberty, it works out to be about AU$20/m instead. Now, sure, you have to buy a minimum of a metre, but really, that’s an insignificant matter, ahem…
I put the call out to some local Liberty lovers and we all shared the shipping (approx. $20 flat rate), and the package very quickly arrived from London. In fact, it took me longer to organise a redelivery/pick up than it did for it to arrive here in the first place!
It even came with a Liberty of London shopping bag. Score!
And the other big Liberty news is that I started to use up some Liberty fabric scraps. Now, it is well documented that I am NOT a scrap quilter. I keep fabric scraps and occasionally pick out of them for a bee block or other such small project, but mostly, they end up being bagged and destashed. But not my Liberty fabric, my precious! I kept all but the smallest of crumbs, reusing as much as I could (like for my mini Milky Way Sampler blocks) until only small strips remained.
Which means that when I saw Jane of @behind_lilpipdesigns share some little Liberty log cabin blocks, I was immediately inspired to pull out the little strips and start creating. Of course, while it is scrappy and kinda improv, it’s also planned… alternating dark and light Liberty fabrics! But the widths of the strips vary, as do the tones and shades. Big steps for me, haha!
I also made some bee blocks for my guild’s Liberty bee, but I’ll save those for a bigger “quilting bee block update” later on. But I may as well throw in a pretty picture of the latest Love Liberty Club fabric bundle from The Strawberry Thief that arrived the other day too, because oooooh pretty!
It seems I’m now at the point that I need to seriously consider how to store my Liberty collection. The added yardage won’t fit in the little box now! And I think I may also organise my little pieces from the bundles by colour now, rather than just one big pile… Hmm… Any thoughts?!

So so pretty! We visited London this past summer and I had a glorious but brief 15 minutes in the store-just long enough to snatch up a FQ bundle. I’m hoping to go back with my hubby on his business trip and get to spend a whole day there if I wish! I love your darling little blocks.

Ohhh, I can’t wait to go! ONE DAY. My husband often has to travel for work, so hopefully he’ll go back to London one time and I can go too!

SO pretty, the little log cabin blocks. Isn’t it such a great feeling using the fabric you love? Stepping outside your own box isn’t always fun but you did great.
Alyce says
Thanks, Bobbie!! Thankfully it is working as I had hoped/imagined, haha!

These are so beautiful!! I think you made a terrific investment *ahem. Now you’ve got me poking around to see who does a Liberty club in the US!

Do it! I believe Westwood Acres does one.
