There’s something pretty big and exciting happening very soon, and to celebrate, there’s a massive pre-party happening! You won’t want to miss out on this one, but first, let me tell you a tale of my creative journey…
As a kid, I was always creating. Whether it was creating a colourful butterfly design out of wooden blocks, hoarding cardboard boxes from the pantry to cut up and stick back together, or even filling a sketch book of house plan designs after we had learnt about them in grade 5. My need to create was insatiable! As I grew up, I discovered “crafty hobbies” – scrapbooking, card making, beading, cross stitching, and more. Until I discovered quilting, when I saw this quilt at my local mums’ group that one had made with their mother for her daughter. Related – that baby on the quilt that started it all turns EIGHT today. Crazy!
At first, I thought it was just another crafting phase. And maybe it might have been, had it not been for our move to Japan, where quilting became my sanity in the midst of all the change! The rest is history, as they say, but it certainly didn’t stop my curiosity in other creative endeavours. Scrapbooking particularly has endured in fits and spurts, but I’ve broadened my fabric and thread and yarn interests by dabbling in crochet, embroidery, applique, and I’ve just recently borrowed a small loom from a friend to attempt weaving over the summer holidays!
Do you find that you’re the same? Are you a monogamous creative, or do you also enjoy other crafts on the side of quilting? Or perhaps quilting is your side craft! Whichever way around it is, I do suspect that the majority of you are the same as me – we are so innately creative that our interests extend beyond patchwork. Which is why I’m excited about a brand new bundle of digital products that I am involved in this month.
Handmade With Love is a super bundle put together by Ultimate Bundles in collaboration with 50 designers and bloggers, that includes 200+ digital patterns, projects, planners, and step-by-step tutorials on handcrafts like quilting, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, embroidery, weaving, and more! For all these patterns and projects, you’ll pay just US$29.97 – that’s a discount of 97% (and works out to be less than 15 cents per pattern!). My eBook DIY Block Design is my contribution to this incredible package. And as a contributer, I’ve had a sneak peek at the products included and am thrilled to see that I will have the perfect resources for my summer weaving already at my fingertips.
And that pre-party I mentioned? Well, how would you like to win a Cricut Maker Machine , or a Brother Embroidery and Sewing Machine, or any of 18 other prizes?! That’s right, the folks at Ultimate Bundles are running a giveaway…and not just any giveaway!
Including the prizes I already mentioned, there are 20 prizes (worth almost $4,000 altogether!), so you’ll definitely find something crafty that you’ve had your eye on. I mean, with categories like Knitting & Crochet; Embroidery & Cross-Stitch; Sewing, Quilting, & Applique, and, Mixed Media Fiber Arts (like Weaving), there’s something for every maker.
To enter, head over to the giveaway page. You’ll pick your category, and enter your name and email address. That’s it! Then you sit back and wait to see if you win. Giveaway closes November 26, so go enter now before you forget 😉

I’ve gone through spurts of various crafts. Jewelry making lasted the longest before quilting (7 years). Working full-time, I only have time for one craft and cooking/baking. I used to crochet by the tv but not I bind quilts!

Yeah, I’m mostly monogamous with quilting/fabric now… until I need a break from fabric and play with paper and scrapbooking for a little bit! And even then, that’s usually only on the weekends when I force myself to have a break from “work” sewing!

I hear you Alyce. At 67 there are too many crafts I’ve enjoyed learning & perfecting. Ahmmm at different levels but my always truely missing & come back to are crochet, painting & beading. Jumping in with 2 feet myself & a friend decided to learn quilting. We can’t look back & we both are loving it. Oh darn, you mean my body HAS to sleep.
