When I sat down with my tubs of fabric last week to starting pulling fabrics for my own Aurora BOM quilt, I sat there feeling a little uninspired. Although, to be honest, I think it was that I was wanting to step out of my blender/tone-on-tone comfort zone within my rainbow colour plan. And my stash just does not have those options. Which is why I normally love it so much, ha!
But I did spy my little collection of Tula Pink prints kept together, and it sparked something… I loved working with them when I made my nephew a rainbow Geode quilt, so why not step it up a notch and go a bit more multicoloured Tula?!
I jumped online and checked out what Aussie stores had on offer, and found a rainbow Tula Pink bundle at Polka Dot Tea. As they’re a sponsor of Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild, I had a coupon code to use to get 10% off, so I added in a few extra prints to round out the colour spectrum, and clicked purchase. I then hopped over to Clair’s Fabrics (another guild sponsor) to grab some background fabric and a black and white stripe fabric for binding.
So this week, I’m going to get stuck into cutting it all up using the 8″ AccuQuilt QUBE dies that work perfectly for Aurora, and keeping an eye on the #aurorabom feed on Instagram, as some blocks are starting to pop already!
