I’m thrilled to announce a new collection of patterns – Little Liberties! I adore Liberty fabric, but sometimes struggle to know how best to use it to show off the pretty prints. We all know my comfort zone is blender-ish fabrics, so that’s probably why, but I’m determined to branch out and think creatively. These two new patterns are the start of that!
Little Liberties is a series of mini quilt patterns designed to work with ten fat 16ths of Liberty or less. Fat sixteenths are the most common size of precut Liberty, like you get in a Liberty fabric club, which typically also send out ten prints each month. Neat, right?! First up we have Entwined – a patchwork heart mini quilt that finishes at 18″ x 18″.
Entwined uses 10 fat sixteenths – my version uses five blue, and five pink. And by finishing at 18″ square, it could be a mini quilt or a cushion – the pattern includes instructions for both.
The second pattern is Cinque Terre – inspired by the brightly coloured buildings in Italy. This mini quilt finishes at 24″ x 24″, and uses nine fat sixteenths.
For my version, I chose one central feature print (Kayako C), and then pulled eight coordinating colours from it to use in the surrounding blocks. It’s the perfect pattern for letting your favourite prints shine!
As for where to get the first two Little Liberties patterns? This weekend is the Brisbane Quilt and Craft Fair, and I’m thrilled to be launching these in collaboration with Ava & Neve. They have a stall there and will be exclusively stocking these patterns and kits! So if you’re heading off to the Fair tomorrow through Sunday, swing by and grab one! And if not, then I’m sure if you contact Martina, she can work something out for you 😉
