I am so incredibly chuffed with how my Pollinate quilt is coming along. It’s definitely one of those projects where I had a spark of inspiration as to how I wanted the quilt to look, but have had my fingers crossed the whole time I’ve been stitching, hoping that it’s going to turn out like what I had planned. And it is!
I’m still loving my choice to mix up spots of fussy cutting with just simply slicing and dicing the fabric. It’s saved me so much time, but also means that there are pockets of surprises where there are the fussy cut moments, as well as the space to just enjoy the colours.
It’s also getting big! This section is about 40″ wide at the widest point, so it’s about to outgrow our apartment’s biggest section of clear floor space, ha! Next time you see it all together like this, I’ll have to take the photo outside on the pavement.
Next up is working on the five bees that circle this section, and also a pressing and de-basting party because phew EPP projects get heavy at this point! And that’s even with all the centre rosette free of papers! Before moving on to more of the rosettes, and then more gemstones. Talking of which, I had to order some more solids, as the ones I have been using were just little pieces from an event’s goodie bag… perhaps fat eighth-ish in size? And unlabelled, so I pulled out my Kona card and get guessing. Only to have the parcel arrive and realise I had forgotten to order more of the pink *facepalm* Sigh.
This is also the perfect time to share my progress, because November is the month of #PollinateProgressParty that will be happening throughout the whole month! Hosted by Kitty – @nightquilter – it’s a casual sew along full of fun prizes and stitching hangouts to help motivate you to make progress on your Pollinate quilts. I love that it’s all about progress, not a finish. To join in, simply share your latest Pollinate progress pics with #pollinateprogressparty on Instagram! And if you haven’t gotten the pattern and kit yet, then head over to The DIY Addict to grab it all – there’s even fabric kits now available too!
