Today, I shared a finished quilt that I made with my quilting bee. It was made using the free Treasure Hunt quilt block tutorial from my blog series, The Bee Hive Quilts, and is a foundation paper pieced block that I had fun colouring in a certain way. This is what each block looked like by itself:
And in the finished quilt, every second block was rotate 180 degrees to create a fun secondary diamond design:
If you’d like to know more about the process of deciding on what colours to use for a quilting bee, you can read more in this post here about how I came to the final colour placement and my experiments on the way to my end choice. But in summary, using EQ8 to decide on the layout was so quick and easy compared to any other option!
To celebrate another quilt finish, I’m sharing another EQ8 project download! The project file contains the Treasure Hunt Quilt block uncoloured and coloured, and two quilt layouts – one coloured as above, and one uncoloured layout.
The uncoloured quilt layout included is with the block already rotated, so that you can more quickly create the kind of layout you’d like if you’re wanting a similar effect as my quilt. To colour the same segment in every block at the same time, just hold CTRL as you click on the segment, and it will colour it in that colour in every block. Clever!
