The third section of Mini Masterpieces is all about curves – simple, complex, and improv. Are you ready to get your curves on?!
Preorder Mini Masterpieces from these stockists
Simple Curves
What are simple curves? Where two pieces become one… square unit/block. Like a Drunkards Path unit.
Jane for Ava & Neve made four of the sampler quilt block and turned it into a mini quilt – how beautiful are those colours?
Nicole from Modern Handcraft was the first person to come to mind to ask to join in the book hop for Simple Curves. Nicole and drunkards path blocks are synonymous in my head! And yep, love her work.
Complex Curves
Complex curves involve piecing a few different templates (shape or number of!) to create a square unit or quilt block. And we have three fabulous quilters sharing for this technique!
Elisabeth of Elisabew Quilts was a must to ask to make this block – she’s a whiz at curves and templates and curved templates! And I was not disappointed.
Samantha from Aqua Paisley Studio wanted to challenge herself with curves for the first time and to make this block… sure! Have a crack! And how good did she do?! You’ll have to go click through and see the mini quilt she made with four blocks.
As for Christopher AKA The Tattooed Quilter, the complex curves mini quilt is called Blossom… just like his beautiful basics line with Riley Blake! So of course I just had to ask him 😉 And he couldn’t stop at just one block.
Improv Curves
I may highly appreciate points and rulers when it comes to quilting, I do also enjoy the freedom that creating improv curves brings to quilting.
When it comes to improv, of course I had to ask fellow Lucky Spool author, Nicholas from Quilts From The Attic, considering that he wrote Inspiring Improv!
I also asked Aurifil to join in the fun, seeing as they’re sponsoring the giveaways each quilter is hosting. Hilary made this beautiful block.
The fun continues on for a few more days still! And each person is giving away two spools from my Aurifil thread collection, so don’t forget to check in each day to enter to win!
