Another year, and another AccuQuilt block of the month! This is my third BOM quilt that I’ve designed for AccuQuilt Australia using the AccuQuilt Qubes, and don’t tell Patisserie or Stellar, but this one’s my most favourite so far.
Petals is different from the previous two BOM quilts I designed. Why? Previously, I’ve used the Qubes as-is, that is, the blocks I designed finished at the stated size on the box. This year, we’re going big – the blocks are designed at 150% the Qube size. This means that if you have a 6″ Qube, your blocks would finished at 9″. My blocks are made with the 8″ Qube and are finishing at 12″.
The quilt layout plan is also different too from what I’ve done for the previous BOMs, so that will be fun to reveal! Here’s the stats for what size quilts you can make based on what Qube you have.
- 6” Qube – 9” (finished) blocks – 45” x 45” quilt
- 8” Qube – 12” (finished) blocks – 60” x 60” quilt
- 9” Qube – 13.5” (finished) blocks – 67.5” x 67.5” quilt
- 10” Qube – 15” (finished) blocks – 75” x 75” quilt
- 12” Qube – 18” (finished) blocks – 90” x 90” quilt
You can find the tutorial for the first block on the AccuQuilt Australia blog here.
We can’t wait to see your quilts! Feel free to share them with us on Instagram, tagging @blossomheartquilts and @accuquilt_australia, and using the hashtags #blossomheartquilts and #accuquiltBOM. Did you know that there’s an AccuQuilt Addicts group on Facebook? AccuQuilt Australia run it and are actively involved, it’s great!

Hi there,
This is so lovely, I do want to join in, but I’m a little confused. I want to either print out the instructions or save them but I’m not sure best how to do so? I have an Accuquilt account but on U.S. not Australia, so? Do I set up a separate account in Australia or log in with my U.S. And .. . Is there a way to save it into iBooks on an iPad? Thanks if you know I sure appreciate the info. Cheers, Giuliana

Head on over via the link to the AccuQuilt Australia blog, and you can either follow the tutorial there, or download the PDF to something like iBooks. No need to log in or anything!
