I’ve been a busy bee over the past couple of months still, with both my Miss B Haven bee and my guild’s Liberty bee. Both bees are very different, so that means it’s been staying interesting and fun each month when it’s time to make the blocks! I last shared blocks in June, which means that it’s time to share July’s blocks.
For the Miss B Haven bee (which are sewing blocks from The Bee Hive quilts series), the queen chose the Fizzy quilt block in soft pink, orange, and teal. I made mine up at our Retreat at the start of August as she was there to hand deliver them to… ahem. That’s the excuse I’m going with! As there were a few fellow bee members there, I took the opportunity to grab a group shot of what all the blocks together look like. How cool does it look!
For the Liberty bee, I was queen for July, so I’ll move right on to the August blocks. The queen chose simple half-square triangles and sent us some green fabric to use with the Liberty. Unfortunately, the fabric was quite thin and tricky to work with and led to a ruler accident, ack! Combine that with the fact that she had sent us too little fabric, it meant I was only able make 2/3 blocks. So I sent a bunch of Liberty squares in apology and to help her finish them off!
August’s queen for Miss B Haven chose the Checker block in navy and teal. Yum! She had a specific way she wanted the HSTs to be orientated so that she could get the pinwheel effect she’s after in the quilt top. Checker is a great quilt block to choose, as it can technically make two blocks 😉
On to September, and the Liberty queen chose the Sunny Lanes block. This quilt top is going to look so fun with the yellow HSTs creating all sorts of secondary patterns!
And lastly, the September queen for Miss B Haven chose the Bunting block. Now, she is well-known for her love (and skill!) of everything rainbow, so we all knew she was going to choose something rainbow-licious. But she surprised us all by going for high volume! Check it out!
There’s just one month left of the Liberty bee, and three more months of Miss B Haven. Almost time to start thinking about what bees to do next year!
