Over the past year, we’ve made a scrap buster block each month. On the AccuQuilt Australia blog, I shared different quilt layout options for each block to provide inspiration for how you could make a quilt from just the one block pattern – check those out here. But if you were sewing along to make a sampler quilt like me… well, now’s the time to put it together! Here’s how I made my rainbow sampler quilt…
You can find all the scrappy quilt block tutorials here.
HOT TIP
To get the same scrappy rainbow effect, I highly recommend laying out your blocks and cutting the print square for each intersection one at a time to get the rainbow flow that makes sense for you.
SCRAPPY RAINBOW SAMPLER QUILT TUTORIAL
You will need
12 – 12 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ quilt blocks
20 – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ print squares
31 – 2 ½” x 12 ½” background strips
Note: Use a 1/4″ seam and press seams as directed. Quilt top should measure 44″ x 58″.
Quilt top construction
Step 1. Arrange the blocks into a 3 x 4 grid layout. Place a background strip on each edge of each block and place a print square between each strip.
Step 2. Sew into rows – five squares and strip rows, and four strip and block rows. Press seams open.
Step 3. Sew the rows together, and press seams open.
We can’t wait to see your quilts! Feel free to share them with us on Instagram, tagging @BlossomHeartQuilts, and using the hashtags #BlossomHeartQuilts
